New Delhi - India's cricket captain, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, married his college sweetheart in a private ceremony in the northern state of Uttarakhand, media reports said Monday.
Dhoni, widely considered India's most eligible bachelor, tied the knot with Sakshi Rawat Sunday night in Hindu wedding rituals at a country villa near the state capital, Dehradun, the NDTV network reported.The surprise announcement of the engagement came Saturday and the couple tied the knot a day later in front of 50 relatives and friends, including Bollywood film star John Abraham and Dhoni's cricket teammates, said the report, which cited a family friend and police official.Local media reports described Rawat as a 23-year-old hotel management student who has known Dhoni since childhood.Popularly known as Captain Cool, Dhoni, 28, is regarded as one of the most successful captains of Indian cricket. He led his team to victory in the 2007 Twenty20 World Cup, and in June, the Indian team lifted the Asia Cup trophy for the first time in 15 years.
